Old Moat Jrs first away football game 2011

Old Moat’s first football match of the season took place away at Chorlton Park Primary School. Both sides contended with difficult weather as rain and strong winds lashed the pitch and players. After an exciting match with both teams giving their all it was Chorlton Park that emerged the winning side. Yet Old Moat should be proud with their good sportsmanship and  effort throughout the match.  Thank-you to all the parents, guardians and friends that turned out in the cold weather to cheer on Old Moat.

Teachers Vs Students

On Thursday the 23rd of June, the Old School teachers played the beautiful game of football against the New School kids.

The game was held at Parrs Wood High School and the weather conditions were just perfect, just the right amount of water on the pitch and the sun blazing on our backs while everyone warmed up.

The teachers were ready to go and had their team fixtures in. Ten solid players to take on the mighty 12 Old Moat Jrs players.

The game did not go the way Old Moat Jrs wanted it go, with Mr.Kerr putting the first goal away. Trevor brought it back with two amazing goals, making it 2:1. Mr.Ali had a dig from the half way line and buried it in the back of the net, Ms. Hunt confusing  Shahbaz by getting in the way of line of fire.

Mr.Kerr took the whole defense coming in off the right wing and scoring another, making it 3:2. Ms.Horrabin breaking the defense by moving into space and allowing Mr.Kerr to drive the ball in.

Old Moat Jrs did not know what had hit them, they stepped their game up and took control of the game, using all their players and playing some perfect one-twos between Rasan, Paige and Trevor.

Ms.Julia made it 4:2, and then Andy went for the goal of the game making it 5:2, and wow what a goal it was. The ball was struck from outside the box, straight into the top left corner.

Ms.Devlin made some Ronaldo style runs on the left wing.

Mr.Ali wiped in the ball from the corner post, Mr.Kerr losing his man and got in front of the ball making it 6:2.

Old Moat Jrs had no way back, but they still played as a team and went for goal every time. Trevor and Rasan were testing Raj, the teacher’s goal keeper. Testing him to his limits, but Mr. Jackson made sure that his defense were tight and worked as one unit. Rasan’s move which he kept pulling by flicking the ball up in the air, made it difficult for the teachers to handle.

Last few minutes of the game, Teachers have a corner. Mr.Kerr whipped it in, just the right height for Mr.Ali to get his head on the back of it. This made it 7:2. GAME OVER!

Well done to all the children who played, you all done the school proud and you played like world class super stars. Good effort Old Moat Jr. You tested all the teachers to their limits.

Old Moat vs Mersey Vale

Tuesday the 17th of May, Old Moat Jrs take on Mersey Vale.

The weather was not on either one of the teams side but this did not stop either team from playing their huge hearts out and playing the beautiful game of football.

Not a grate result for Old Moat Jrs, but we still are a team who love the sport we call “football”.

Final score 3:1 to Mersey Vale, Trevor putting away a fantastic goal for us.

Rasan getting man of the match.

As a team and a group of true football players,  I, Mr.Ali would like to say:

“Well done, and keep your heads up. You played like champs and walked away with pride and respect from the other team. I am very proud of you all!”

We did not win but we still came home feeling like champions of the world!

Old Moat Vs Chorlton Park

We had a second chance to play Chorlton Park, we had a new team, a new line up, and a group of year 5 players to fill in the missing gaps…could we defeat them?

It was an away game for our team; we made our way to the pitch where all the Gods of football come to play. The pitch was wet, the sun was trying to shine over us and the pitch was in perfect playing condition.

The game started with a blast, Chorlton Park to kick off. They took full advantage of the space and used all 11 players on their pitch to break down the mid-field and defence. Within the first 10 minutes Chorlton Park put away two smashing goals. This did not bring down the spirits of our boys; they kept their heads up and carried on playing like super stars.

Jake being our star player this week made sure that he was stuck in with every attack which Chorlton Park had to throw at us. For a small lad he did not feel any fear and got stuck right in playing his heart out.

Chorlton Park put away another two goals within 5 minutes. This was starting to be a repeat of the last game we played. Trevor stepped his game up, drivinging the ball from the mid-field all the way upfront and having the goal insight, he went for a strike…GOAL…making it 4:1.

This did not stop Trevor, he wanted more and he did. He played a one-two with Marcus and went for his second.

Half time: 4:2

A team talk was in order, subs needed to be made if we wanted to win this game. New wingers were pulled in, the second half kicked off.

What a second half, Old Moat played like they have never played before, they glued together and played like a real team, stringing together a series of one-twos and pushing the ball forward into Chorlton Parks half. Every time we lost the ball, the whole team would come back and defend to get the ball out. Nawa and Sean being the strong defenders they are, they kept pushing the ball out, Jake did not give up too, he got stuck in every time.

A break for Old Moat, only 5 more minutes to play. The ball is pushed up from the back, Marcus and Trevor driving the ball forward. Trevor could see the goal insight, he goes for a strike and it is just wide of the wood work. That one goal would have made all the difference, but the Gods were not on our side.

Finial score 4:2

Man of the match: Jake (Old Moat)

A new team

As we are into a new year it was only right that Old Moat Jrs. have a new fresh team too. Mr.Ali will be holding trails and picking out suitable players for the team, this time round, yeah 5 will be able to join in too. Training starts on the 2nd of Feb for year 5′s and 9th of Feb for year 6.

By the 12th of Feb a new team will get picked and put out. Keep checking this page for updates.

All the best boys and girls.

Old Moat vs. Broad Oak

Old Moat vs. Broad Oak (away)

Old Moat’s second game of the sessions and what a game it was. Old Moat had learnt a thing or two in their training sessions with Mr. Ali, taking on board what mistakes they made and making sure they were not done again.

Old Moat focused on their defending skills and feeding the ball to the upfront players, making sure they put it in the back of the net every time. Trevor and Rasan having the game of their life, made sure that they were running the ball into the oppositions half and going for goal every time. In the back we had our super strong Nawa and fearless Sean making sure that no long balls or attackers got past them, breaking them down in their path.

Although Broad Oak put away two goals within ten minutes of the first half, Old Moat still carried on playing their hearts out. Trevor being the star player that he is carried on playing and put away a goal for us, making it 2.1

Once Trevor had scored, Rasan felt left out and wanted some of the action so he also went for goal, making it two all.

Mr Jackson made a change, pulling Trevor for Mahi. It was not enough for Mahi to just come on and play the last five minutes of the first half; he also went for goal and what a goal the young lad put away. Old Moat 3 Broad Oak 2.

A few changes were made for the second half and it kicked off with sprits high. Trevor came back on and put away yet another goal, now making it 4:2 to Old Moat.

Nawa and Sean working very well together in the back, made sure that Broad Oak did not put any more away. This was also put down to the goal keeper, Shabaz and his amazing saves.

Rasan was ready to put away yet another goal, the ball was crossed in from the half way line and Rasan had to make sure with putting the ball in the back of the net. Now making it 5:1, Broad had no way of coming back and Old Moat won the game.

Well done Old Moat Juniors, great result!

Old Moat vs. Chorlton Park

Our first game was against Chorlton Park School (away)

Old Moat vs. Chorlton Park

Being our first game, it did not work out in our favour as we did not put away half the goal which we should have. Old Moat played very well and kept their heads up during the whole game, but it still did not work out for Old Moat as we lost the game 5:1.

Trevor was the only one who put the goal away for Old Moat.
